Merely a breath

 Evil has always been present in this world, but sometimes it is easy to forget about it when it isn't directly affecting us personally.  In light of current events, I find myself selfishly fearing for what might be in store for us....   It's a scary world we live in (although I guess people have been saying that for years, I'm sure...there's really nothing new.)

Anyway, I guess God knows my heart and the fears that have filled my mind over the past few days:  He caused me to read a verse today that helped give peace and re-adjust my heart and mind: "Behold, Thou hast made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing in Thy sight, Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. [Selah.]"  and again "Surely every man is a mere breath." (Psalm 39:5, 11) 

 We will all die.  Once to every man, there is an appointed time to die.   Death has a way of conquering even the most powerful, rich, healthy, and invincible--even those who are evil and bring terror and death to innocent people.

Evil will not always triumph over good.  It may seem to prevail...for now.  

 But life is but a breath.  

God is in control...and one day He will bring all evil to an end.

With Talitha growing more and more in her understanding of what we say and do, I have been looking for a good children's Story "Bible" read to her.  (I say "Bible" because these books are not literally what we would believe to be the inspired Word of God but rather illustrated books with the main stories of the Bible written for children.)    While I have not come across bad illustrated children's Bibles, there are, admittedly, some that are better than others. Gospel-centric children's Bibles, such as the Jesus Story Book Bible , that strive to focus on the Gospel-themes as portrayed throughout Scripture, are popular these days and are some of the best options out there!  However, I have had a hard time deciding which one I wanted to buy.    And then I read a review for The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible, by Jared Kennedy, published by New Growth Press in 2017. To Rejoice and To Weep

The announcement that they were expecting was adorable. The added twist in the announcement saying that they were expecting twins made it even more delightful, for it is not every day that the Facebook algorithm brings up a "we're expecting twins" announcement! I'm truly happy for the couple who is now awaiting the arrival of not one, but two precious little ones!  But along with the joy in my heart came a twinge of sadness: my heart couldn't help but think back to the time, four years ago now in March, when we were also expecting twins. The thrill of finding out we were expecting was only heightened by the discovery that there were two! For somewhere between 5 1/2 and 12 weeks, I carried our two little treasures, created in God's image and precious in His sight.  But then there was no more growth. For those of you who were not able to make it... and for those who were... here are a few of my favorites from June 1, 2013!  Leading up to "the first look" No comment needed Hehe...this picture makes me smile every time I see it!  Um...I think this group has too much fun together!  No goofing around here...not with the dads in the background! I think this was the part about the island...where no girls were allowed. But then he led into the incredible picture between Christ and the Church and marriage.  It was a memorable moment.   Both Dad and Mom walked me down the aisle...another special time to remember!   I think, just possibly, Mr. Shively was telling Isaac he could kiss his bride. We hardly even noticed all the commotion..                                     He was the cutest little bell-ringer!  Annnd...she predicted it, way back freshman year!   ...
