Exciting News!

My sister-in-law Rachel Shively, a mutual friend Chrystal Stauffer, and I are excited to announce that we just started a joint-blog, Hearts Refreshed.

This project started rolling when I asked Rachel several months ago if she wanted to do a joint-post with me here on In the Meantime.

Well, that particular post didn't materialized.

Instead, we started working on a slightly bigger project: getting Hearts Refreshed ready to launch! Yes, it finally just went public today!

We are super excited!

All three of us come from different backgrounds and are in different stages of the early years of marriage and motherhood. We desire to be learning what it means to be a godly wife, mother, and member of the Body of Christ. And we desire to serve other women through the specific avenue of the written word.

And that is why we are starting Hearts Refreshed.

You may be asking why we settled on the name Hearts Refreshed.

I think the dictionary can explain it better than I can. It defines refreshed as to "renew somebody's energy, reactivate memory, replenish something."

The dictionary then gives the example of prompting or reactivating "the memory with a piece of  information."

As Christians, we believe the message of the Gospel of Christ is central to instructing us and enabling us to fulfill our unique, God-given roles in life.

But as wives, moms, and just plain and simple, human beings, the cares of this life tend to sidetrack us from the message of the Gospel. We often allow ourselves to get overwhelmed by the immediate circumstances of our life and to get caught up in the problems that we face.

And so we forget what Christ has done for us on the cross.
We forget who we are in Christ.
We forget what Christ has provided for us to live a godly life in the midst of trials.
We forget the hope of that which lies beyond this life.

And we forget that all this impacts how we live our life right now.

So we need to remind ourselves.
We need to be prompted.
We need to reactivate our spiritual memory.

In short, we need our hearts to be refreshed, day in and day out, with that "piece of information" that is the truth of the Gospel of Christ as revealed in the Word of God.

Thus, because we tend to so easily forget, this refreshing of our spiritual heart and memory has to happen over and over again.

And that is the goal of Hearts Refreshed: we pray that what you read will help nudge your heart towards being refreshed by the truth of the Gospel as it applies to the everyday situations of life as a wife, a mom, and a member of the Body of Christ.

While this will be the overall theme of the blog, this space will, of course, also have the occasional post on fun wife/mom stuff like recipes, book reviews, fun ideas for gifts, etc that we've tried or like!

And so we invite you to join us in pursuing Christ-likeness in the everyday-ness of life.

Yes, we are excited and hope you will join us!!
