Almost 7 Months {Or Things I'm Learning as a Mom}

1.  With each stage, you think “This can’t get any better.”  And then you reach the next stage—and it is so much more fun than the previous stage.

2.   There are times when it’s okay to let the baby cry…and cry…and cry.  She’ll eventually fall asleep and wake up.  Chances are she’ll be much more civil towards you and the rest of the world.

3.  If you don’t like this stage…just wait it out.  It’ll change shortly.

4.  If you like this stage…enjoy it, because it’s going to change soon!

5.  A sick baby is no fun—the nights are the worst!

6.  Moms don’t have an “off” switch.  Dads do.

7.  Poopy diapers are all relative.

8.  Don’t be afraid to do that thing you thought you’d never do—it won’t be the end of the world.  The baby will be just fine and you’re no less of a mom because you did it.

9.  A lot of parenting is a matter of preference, not rights and wrongs.

10. How I parent my kid is going to look different from how you parent your kid.  That’s ok.

11.  There are definitely moments where you feel like your heart might burst from so much love for this little creature you call your child.

12.  Bandana bibs are the best invention ever!

13.  Routines and schedules really do make a difference.

14.  On the other hand, occasional exceptions to routines and schedules aren’t going to totally mess that schedule you worked so hard to establish!

15.  Cloth diapering really is quite easy (and there are not nearly as many blowouts with cloth diapers as with plastic!)

16.  A baby happily playing in bed after a nap is one of the cutest. things. ever.

17.  Being a mom is pretty fantastic!

18.  Some days it feels like you didn’t do anything except take care of the baby.

19.  Life got so much better after the Bumbo seat arrived!  I wish I had gotten one sooner!

20.  Time goes way too fast.  Has it really been almost 7 months since Talitha was born?!?!?

21.  The simplest things can entertain a baby…and her parents.

22.  Nursing takes hard work and is not necessarily the easy, cop-out route.

23.  Being a parent is scary—I now have a tiny human being totally dependent on me!

24.  Doing things “for fun” now take a lot more work and effort…if they happen at all.

25.  You know you’re a stay-at-home-mom when your excursion to get out of the house is a trip to the grocery store.

26.  No one really tells you about all the adjustments of the first month or so.  It can be way harder than the labor and delivery.

27.  It is a matter of survival to learn how to do things with one hand.

28.  Sometimes you lose an hour of the day because you get distracted just playing with your sweet baby.

29.  Babies hate that blue snot-sucker the hospital gave you, but those things are the heroes when it comes to a stuffy nose.

30.  What was life like before I had a baby???? I just love our Little Girl to pieces!
