Hope {Despite our temporary life}
This world isn’t the way it was originally created to be. In the beginning,
it was perfect—exactly how God designed it to be.
But then the Fall happened and Adam blessed us with the curse of sin. We now live in a sin-cursed world, with every aspect of our lives marked by the effects of sin in some way or another.
Because of sin, life is full of groaning: Pain, sadness, tears, disappointments,
sickness, death…the list of very real groaning due to sin could go on. And when
pain and sadness, suffering and tears, sickness and death make their way into
our lives in big ways, it is easy to get bogged down with these things because
it is what we see and feel and experience and live. They are our life. These groanings--these
horrible consequences due to sin's curse--are what we know, for they are very real and present.
Right here. Right now.
Yet God has a far greater reality promised to us.
The groaning of sin in this world and in our own lives is only our temporary plight in light of the eternity that we have to look forward to. Sometimes life's struggles don't seem like they will ever...or maybe they seem altogether too much to bear.
But it is only for this life--we have something far greater to look forward to.
One day, Christ will appear.
One day, we will be face to face with Jesus, the One who gave His life out of love for us.
One day, we will be like Him, and we will see Him as He is.
One day, God will dwell among us and will be with us.
One day, we will have all tears and sorrows wiped away by God Himself.
Take heart--we have an incredible HOPE in Christ Jesus!
But then the Fall happened and Adam blessed us with the curse of sin. We now live in a sin-cursed world, with every aspect of our lives marked by the effects of sin in some way or another.
“…for we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of
childbirth together until now…”
For “…even we ourselves groan within ourselves…”
Yet God has a far greater reality promised to us.
“…But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait
eagerly for it.”
In the midst of a sin-cursed world, He has given us a hope that
drives us on through the tragic effects of sin. This hope—which is an unseen
hope—is what gives us patience to persevere and keep looking to Him despite the tears that may be filling our eyes.
But it is only for this life--we have something far greater to look forward to.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not
worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be
revealed to us.”
